Editorial Standards

How we report, who pays for what, and how we tell you the difference.

This page is being written by the editorial team and will publish in full soon. It documents how KBI.Media distinguishes editorial reporting from sponsored coverage, how Priority Partners are identified on the site, and how readers can tell at a glance which kind of content they're looking at.

In the meantime, the short version:

  • Editorial reporting and contributor essays are commissioned and edited by KBI staff. No vendor pays to influence them.
  • Press releases are clearly marked “Press Release” with the vendor named. We review for accuracy and relevance; we don't write them.
  • Priority Partners are vendors who have an ongoing relationship with KBI.Media. Their content is marked. They don't pay us to write favourably about them; they pay us for distribution.
  • Topic Spotlight is a paid category-level sponsorship (for example, MRGD on Mergers & Acquisitions). The sponsor's name appears on the topic page; the editorial content on that page is unaffected.
  • Vendor-Anchored Coverage means KBI was paid to attend a vendor's own conference (CrowdStrike Fal.Con, Palo Alto Ignite, etc.) and produce coverage from it. This is distinct from Agnostic-Event Interviews, where KBI attends independent events (AISA CyberCon, regional summits) and records multiple vendors.
  • The KBI Dossier newsletter may carry one sponsor per edition. The sponsor is named at the top of each edition.

A more complete version of this page is in draft. For questions about a specific piece of coverage, contact the editor at connect@kbi.media.
